About me

My name is Yash Mavlankar

A filmmaker, visual storyteller, and creative editor currently based in London. My passion lies in crafting grounded, emotionally resonant stories that explore themes of self-discovery, nostalgia, and resilience.

I’ve worked across different facets of filmmaking, from directing and cinematography to editing, with a strong focus on narrative-driven projects. My short film The Door marked my debut as a director, blending elements of sci-fi, thriller, and drama. Since then, I’ve continued to evolve my directorial voice through my upcoming short film Drowning In Sorrows, a raw and intimate exploration of grief, identity, and emotional survival.

I’ve also expanded my creative footprint as the Director of Photography on Not Yet and Still Figuring, honing my visual language and deepening my understanding of story through the lens.

With two years of freelancing under my belt and a formal education in film production at SAE Institute London, I bring both hands-on experience and academic insight to every project. Whether it's a music video, short film, or a stylized montage, I aim to capture moments that feel real and leave an impact.

Beyond the camera, I’m passionate about the craft of editing — shaping raw footage into compelling, cohesive narratives that evoke emotion and energy. My editing style is inspired by rhythm, mood, and movement — where every cut serves the story.
